“White Teeth” by Zadie Smith – Book Review

White TeethWhite Teeth by Zadie Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is so relevant to people who have ever experienced the pain of family histories. Zadie Smith is a master of showing us that we can’t outrun our histories, that we are a product of our ancestor’s choices and mistakes and oppressions. There is a deep sadness and deeper nastiness that racism and colonialism causes within families, and though White Teeth is on the surface just a story of two families, it is a study of the affects of global colonial histories on modern folks just trying to get by. Read it!
