Dark Mornings and Renee’s Bridget Jones

DC is kicking a six-sided die deep into the recesses of my closet. I’m out of milk at the moment and I didn’t add sugar, so my coffee’s black. And so is the sky outside – it’s not even 5:30 AM yet. I see no cars on the streets, but the world of twinkling lights outside my windows assures me I’m in the city that never sleeps.

I woke up a few times last night, which doesn’t make for the best sleep, but I am happy to be awake before sunrise. I’ve been reading News of the World; it’s so good. I am stoked to see the movie, as soon as I’m done reading the book (like within minutes.)

Ugh, yesterday I took the virtual tour presented by the Tenement Museum. It sucked. It was so bad! I hated it. They had an actor pretending to be an 1800s German, and he did a good job, and they tried to make it fun, but there is just no way to make Zoom fun. It’s really worse than trying to make fetch happen. I attended the event, but I can’t deny my disappointment – or maybe it was my own fault for expecting it to be interesting.

Don’t get me wrong – the Zoom presentation of the saloon blueprints were cool, and some of the other old documents, but the format of the interaction with the German guy was just so cringe. So cringe!

I did watch a good Youtube video about Appalachian Scotch-Irish people. That’s one thing I’m thankful for from yesterday.

The second thing is delivery. I am thankful for delivery: grocery delivery, contraband delivery, pet food delivery… They can deliver anything these days. I wonder if there will be a National Delivery Person Day, because those people work so hard and deserve a round of applause.

Thirdly, I am thankful that yesterday I didn’t leave my home, not even once. It felt so nice to not have any obligations outside my house.

Speaking of obligations, I have my book club today at 1 and I haven’t reviewed the book. Guess who is watching the movie? Me. It’s me, I’m watching “Bridget Jones’s Diary” this morning. They’re not gonna know (they’re gonna know, but how would they know?)
