Dear People Doing Fireworks All Night on July 4th: Kindly F*@% Off

I’m pro-Independence Day, in the sense that I’m a fan of freedom and the right to bear arms. But there’s also something called the right to a decent night’s sleep: a key component being uninterrupted quiet. So tell me why myself, my cat DC, and the good people of Harlem and Morningside Heights, need to be harassed at all hours of the night?

There’s no reason for it. At 10:30 PM, I was awoken by an especially loud cacophony of fireworks – seemingly from the park next door. I got up and saw the time on the stove and went back to sleep.

Let me briefly say, I’m no Scrooge, and I expected some – a lot – of noise last night. Just not all night long.

So at 2:30 AM, I’d had enough.

Me, Keeping On Being AWOKEN by these clowns

I just couldn’t go back to sleep, and with sunrise only two hours away, I decided to watch some telly, because I predicted that the little a-holes wouldn’t start being considerate of others anytime soon.

I mean, think of the children! The little children… asleep in their beds. Not.

On the plus side – the sunrise is beautiful and, like vampires, the rude people of Manhattan have hauled themselves back to rest in whatever hole they crawled out of.

Off to make some coffee and watch the sun come up – one of my favorite activities (watching the Sun.)

Have a nice, summery day!
